The Grace Spitfire does a large number of Birthday, Wedding and Celebration private displays. These can be at people’s home address (subject to position as stated below) or at a suitable site nearby or an airfield near to your location. It is often a complete surprise for the ‘special’ person and can make for a truly unique experience on this special day.
The display consists of a maximum of 10 minutes aerobatic routine (subject to the weather conditions at the time) incorporating all the manoeuvres pertaining to the Spitfire aircraft in battle. It shows off its beautiful lines and, coupled with the sound of the Merlin engine, makes for a memorable part of your special day.
The following information will give you an idea of what is involved:-
The display site cannot be in a congested area, such as the middle of a town, nor can it be in controlled airspace - both of which I can answer when I receive the area where you would like the display to take place preferably by way of the postcode.
The date has to be in the display season when the Spitfire is operational from March to the end of September usually.
The costs involved are not for the display as much as for the Spitfire to transit from our base airfield to your intended display site and back. To give you an indication - in a 50 mile radius of Cambridge, for instance, the price would be for a 10 minute aerobatic display between £2,300.00 to £2,800.00 plus VAT and CAA clearance fee of £100.00 for private display
We offer in conjunction with the display the option of a Personal Package if your site is near a suitable airfield that the Spitfire can land at. This is to have you and your group meet in ‘person’ the Grace Spitfire. This is popular as it gives a unique, very personal experience.
I explain about flying the Spitfire and it’s own outstanding wartime and modern day history and the guests can sit in the rear cockpit whilst I give a very detailed brief to the special person in the front cockpit. I then run the Merlin engine with the VIP in the rear cockpit - a great experience. The cost for this personal touch is £500.00 plus VAT, in addition to the display, as an optional extra. It is then ‘your’ Spitfire for the three hour period in the day.
